Pathology is the study of the causes and effects of disease on human body.
An area which includes a number of distinct but interrelated medical specialities that diagnose disease, mostly through analysis of tissue, cell, serum, whole blood and body fluid samples.
As a field of general inquiry and research, pathology addresses four components of disease: cause, mechanisms of development (pathogenesis), structural alterations of cells (morphologic changes), and the consequences of changes (clinical manifestations). Pathology is a significant field in modern medical diagnosis and medical research.
Tests significance: Pathology is a medical specialty that determines the cause and nature of diseases by examining and testing body tissues (from biopsies and pap smears, for example) and bodily fluids (from samples including blood and urine). The results from these pathology tests help doctors diagnose and treat patients correctly.
